brush, I tried out the new call with a grunt and wheeze combo.
After a few calls, I looked back in that direction for a few minutes. Then, I turned back around to check in front of me. After checking that out, I turned back around to check behind me again. There he was coming straight at me about 50 yards away.
I saw he was a good mature deer with a nice rack. After that, I quit looking at the rack and concentrated on making the shot. I had my cross-

from me back behind my stand. It was towards the ridge top. He went over the edge into this big ravine.
I felt I had made a good shot, but I still sat in the stand for about 2 hours after the shot. When I got down, I met up with my friend. We first found my bolt, which had good blood on it from end to end. I knew where the buck had gone, over the ridge. We followed the blood trail.
When we reached the edge of the ravine,
where the deer
went over, my
friend asked me if it was a big deer. I said it was a decent size one, but it was no monster. (continue) |
